Mo'orea, French Polynesia

Mo’orea, also spelled Moorea, is a volcanic island nestled in the heart of French Polynesia. It belongs to the Windward Islands, a captivating group within the Society Islands, located just 17 kilometers (11 miles) northwest of Tahiti. The name itself carries a touch of magic: “Moʻoreʻa” originates from Tahitian, where “Moʻo” means “lizard” and “Reʻa” signifies “yellow.” Legend has it that a yellow lizard was abandoned by its parents and washed ashore on this enchanting island.
Mo’orea is a land of stories, where lush tropical landscapes meet dramatic mountain peaks, palm-fringed bays, and turquoise lagoons.
